Grammar Level Courses (3rd - 6th Grades)

Chapel

All students begin each Monday with Chapel. A rhetoric level student Chaplain and a student worship band lead chapel. The Chapel includes worship songs, a devotional, and prayer.

Latin
The study of the classical language, Latin, is the core of a classical education. In the grammar stage, the emphasis is on the memorization of Latin grammar by the ancient method of oral recitation and form drills.

Biblical Studies
In this course, students move through the entire Bible during a four-year cycle. This class focuses on the people, events, and chronology of the Bible. Biblical study is enriched by an understanding of the history of the time. In addition, students learn basic theology and how to identify theological themes.

Science
Over four years the students cover Astronomy, Botany, and two sections of Zoology using Apologia science curriculum.

Omnibus
Our grammar level Omnibus course is an integrated approach to teaching history, geography and cultural appreciation. History is taught in chronological order, integrating biblically recorded history with events not recorded in Scripture. This helps our students know the relationship between what they study in history books and what they read in the Bible.  All grammar level students are taught the same period of history at slightly different levels. Geography Songs and other tools will be used to help students commit the relevant geography connected to the point of history studied each year.

Literature and Composition
Purposefully chosen, Great Works and excellent-quality historical fiction are selected. Although writing assignments are required of all students in all classes, specific writing instruction is given in this class. The instructor uses a combination of sources to help students develop into confident and accomplished writers. The primary writing teaching sources are the Institute for Excellence in Writing and Shurley Grammar.
